PADI Divemaster Course
Your
dive forster PADI Divemaster Course includes:
Sixteen days intensive training in the skills that will allow you to
act as a Divemaster anywhere in the world.
Sixteen nights accommodation at our own Blue Water Divers Lodge
including linen, bedding and breakfasts.
All boat dives during the course typically thirty to forty boat
dives are undertaken.
Second SCUBA cylinders for double dives.
All air fills.
You
will need to provide:
Towels
Food other than breakfasts.
Diving medical form.
Two passport size photographs of yourself.
All diving equipment unless hiring from Dive Forster at Fishermans
Wharf Dive Centre.
Transport to and from Forster (coach transfers can be arranged from Sydney).
Advanced and Rescue Diver Certification cards.
Divers logbook with record of at least 20 ocean dives.
First Aid Certificate.Not included in the Course:
PADI Divemaster Certification and PADI membership
PADI Divemaster Insurance (optional and costs around $Au200).
The cost of the Dive Forster at Fishermans Wharf Dive Centre PADI Divemaster Course is $1500
Pre-course
requirements:
You must be eighteen years of age.
You must be a holder of PADI Advanced and PADI Rescue Diver qualification.
* Or equivalent.
You need to be a holder of a current First Aid certificate. St Johns
Ambulance, PADI Medic First Aid or equivalent.
You must have logged 20 open water dives prior to commencing.
You must be in good, fit condition for diving.
You must have an approved medical exam form for a diving medical examination
conducted in the last 12 months signed by a licensed medical practitioner.
You must be keen and enthusiastic and be willing to work as part of a
professional team.
You will need to own your own mask, snorkel and fins.**
You will need two passport size photographs of yourself.
* If you do not have your PADI
Advanced and/or PADI Rescue
Diver qualification, you can attain this/these with Dive Forster
at Fishermans Wharf by arriving on the Sunday before your Divemaster
Course.
The cost for this is $395 for Rescue only or $595 for both Advanced and Rescue.
If you opt for this additional week you will be undertaking at least 9 ocean
boat dives.
** Most Divemaster Candidates have all their own equipment. If you need to
hire wetsuit and all hardware the cost is $300 for the 16 days of the Divemaster
course and $50 for the additional Advanced and/or Rescue week.
Special trade prices are available for Divemaster Candidates who may wish to purchase dive equipment prior to, or during their course.
Course Program :
Friday: You
will need to be at Forster by noon for registration and after lunch
Orientation of Dive Centre, Dive Boat, dive hire equipment.
Meeting dive forster staff and other Divemaster Candidates.
Introduction to boat handling skills and boat diving procedures.
Preview of skills required for general management of divers and dive
groups.
Saturday Sunday:
First weekend and we start our in-water training.
Check out dives,
Watermanship skills and assessment.
Management of divers, including introduction to dive briefings.
Dive site and condition assessment.
Practical boat handling skills, locating dive sites using visual landmarks
and GPS.
Selecting suitable dive sites anchoring and retrieval, mooring pick-ups
and mooring safety.
Monday Friday:
week one
Allocation of dive site to be mapped.
Theory - physics, physiology, equipment and environment.
Assisting with dive charter operation.
In water introduction to leading dive groups.
Learning various dive sites topography and peculiarities.
Assisting with Open Water Diver Course students.
Watermanship skills practice.
Swimming training, preliminary assessment of swimming and snorkelling
skills.
SCUBA tank filling procedures.
Air compressor operation and maintenance procedures.
Dive boat maintenance and pre sea-going checks.
Saturday Sunday:
Second weekend.
Assist with allocation of hire equipment.
Assess divers requirements for second SCUBA cylinders and weightbelts.
Setting up of dive boat for days dive charters.
Continuation of boat handling procedures.
Diver ability assessment.
Dive site assessment and selection.
Boat observers responsibilities and rollcall.
Wharf mooring of dive boat and shut down procedures.
Post dives de-briefing.
Stowage and preparation of dive equipment for next days diving.
Monday Friday:
week two
Mapping of allocated dive site.
Diver rescue skills practice.
Watermanship skills evaluation.
Swimming and snorkelling distance and time tests and evaluations.
Practice giving dive briefings.
Assisting with Open Water Diver Course students.
Assisting with Open Water Diver Course lectures.
Assist with leading of dives.
Further theory on physics, physiology, equipment and environment.
Dive Forster at Fishermans Wharf Dive Centre emergency procedures
practice.
Preparation for final exam.
Final theory exam.
Saturday: Third weekend
Working as part of the team.
Assist with allocation of hire equipment.
Assess divers requirements for second SCUBA cylinders and weightbelts.
Setting up of dive boat for days dive charters.
Continuation of boat handling procedures.
Diver ability assessment.
Dive site assessment and selection.
Giving full boat diving, and dive briefings to dive groups.
Boat observers responsibilities and rollcall.
Wharf mooring of dive boat and shut down procedures.
Post dives de-briefing.
Stowage and preparation of dive equipment for next days diving.
Saturday night as a successful Divemaster Candidate you will enjoy
a celebratory BBQ and presentation evening.
Sunday: Third weekend
You are now a PADI Divemaster, you can be justly proud of your efforts in having
achieved this sought after qualification at one of the best, most demanding
Diver Training Facilities in Australia.
Your course has been hard, sure, and youve worked hard to achieve your
goals, but you wouldnt want it any other way.
You have all of the necessary skills and experience to be a working Divemaster
You are not just another divemaster popped out of the sausage factory.
You will be leading divers today, you
are a Divemaster.
